Default Has anyone used a stock ecu to start a lower compression motor?

I want to use stock injectors and no turbo to start the motor, is it possible to use a stock computer to start a lower compression motor? I'm running TT rods and vitara pistons. I would like to drive it atleast 500 miles NA. Could that be done safely with a p06 or p28 stock map?

Also can I start the motor without a transmission or flywheel attached? Well maybe a flywheel.. I would like to see if the motor is any good before I through another 200-300 into a nice clutch.

Thanks
Nick

u can start the motor with no tranny but how u going to supprot the motor from twisting?
as for the ecu it should start if u are not below 9.0.1 compression any thing lower will run like ---- till turboed.

If you took your time and paid attention to the specs you should be fine, Just bolt everything up and drive it. My last build with Z6/Vx pistons i just let it warm up to opperating temp then drive it hard w/ low boost for about 40-50 miles, came back home and changed the oil, did a compression test and it was 150 across the board. It ran 2500 w/ 15psi no probs till my fuel pump craped out, and bye bye went the ringlands.

you didnt answer any of my questions, so i'm not really seeing the point of your post.

Maybe i wasnt clear on my questions.

Question one, Can I run a lower compression motor with a stock ecu and bin? Can I start it and/or run it for break-in peroid with no turbo attached( i know thats hard to believe comming from me).

Question two, Are there any bad effects besides holding the motor up of not installing a tranny to start the motor without the tranny attached?

Thanks Nick

Stock ecu, and stock injectors will run a low compression motor fine NA. I would never start a motor in the car without the tranny, tranny swaps are really eazy on d's just put it in.

if u lower the compression to low it will be gutless.

Yeah, you can do breakin on stock injectors and ECU, but I'd rather break it in under boost to promote ring seal.

You'll have to slap the trans up in there, even if there is no clutch, in order to mount the starter. You also need the trans mounts fastened to keep the engine from whipping around all over the place.
