Default who has experiance installing arp headstuds without removing the head? jdm d15b

i remember reading a while back that a few members installing arp headstuds without removing the head. for those who did, how is your car running now? and what method did you use to install the studs? this is for a 95 civic ex with jdm d15b. thanks in advance

replace hg when u replace headbolts
otherwise u might end up doing it twice

if you really insist, and ur hg is still good... just replace 1 head bolt at a time doing a cross pattern? then torque all down to spec after there all in? lol i never changed headbolts. never had a problem with stock ones.

dont be a lazy ------, swapping a d series head is cake, i could do it drunk, high, having sex, sleeping ect.

I agree with the above. However if you were gonna do it any way's, I'd reccomend



Do it with the Engine COMPLETELY cool(that way if the head lifts a small bit, the HG may not be stuck to it. Which could cause it to rip)

Do ONE head stud at a time(using the removal/installation order as normal). Take one bolt out... put in the stud... place on the washer/nut... do the torque step's... torque down for the final time. Move on to the next Head Bolt and do the same

i installed my arp headstuds one at time yesterday using the tightning sequence and managed to break one of the studs at almost 70 ftlbs. drilled it out and replaced it with a stock head bolt without removing the head. that was tough. got it tuned later on that night at 12.8 psi with a hard night of street racing. so far its holding up great. i'll update if i get any problems. phew did alot of ---- yesterday.

wow, just take a impact wrench to it next time, head bolts dont go down that tight man like ten ft. pounds, hope u didnt tighten the new one down like that. gl though
