Default Think my turbo is fucked....Look at this pic

Well I was driving along and all of a sudden I hear this huge thud. Look in the rear view and there is this piece of tire tread that I ran over rolling along the road. Apperently this tread pulled my oil return line or something because it cause there to be a small hole in it right where it meets the oil pan. So my oil light comes on so I put some oil in it (after I found what the problem was) I had to get home so I figured that I could just put some oil in it every 10 minutes of the drive or so. The oil light came on so I just kept putting oil in it. So I get it home and run a new return line and turn the car on, and there is a ton of smoke coming out the back and it didnt stop. Checked the turbo and this is what it is doing.
(hope the pic worked) This pic was taken when the car was on and it is of the part where the filter was. So what do you think? engine or turbo? Engine sounds fine and all but that is a lot of oil. The turbo would have to be bypassing almost all the oil for it to come out like that. I'm pretty sure its the turbo though because I just changed the oil and the oil coming out is still clean as hell so I'm pretty sure the engine isn't leaking. Oh yeah the oil is also coming into the downpipe too. So what do you think? Turbo or engine?

got the red X on your pic. :P

Sounds like oil is dumping into the exhaust (via wasted turbine side seals)

How long have you ran it with the new oil return on? Oil may be pooled in your exhaust, and continuing to smoke.

Host your ---- on we-todd-did-racing or something, image station blows.

LOL, sweet links

Is that oil coming out of the compressor inlet w/ the engine running?

Where are you tapping oil from? Your return points down and is of a good (1/2"-5/8") size w/ no restrictions?
How long had it been running without problems?
Have someone hold the revs high and watch where the oil douches out. does it dump lots more?

its coming out of the exhaust side and the intake not the comressor (at least when the car is idleing) probably does when driving though

oh yeah, I checked the fins and they are fine. There is still no play and it still spins freely. Think I'm going to take the return off and put a bucket underneath the turbo and see if it still leaks oil without the return hooked up to make sure thats not my problem. Could a messed up return make it pour out that much oil in the first place though? Oh yeah ABAZ, could you clean up where I fucked the pictures up pleeeeeease.

Seals can be replaced without having to balance the shaft right? If it just needs new seals couldnt i just change em out?

I am 95% sure that seals can be changed without having to balance the turbo. I believe you only need to balance the turbo if your put new bearings in. But maybe someone else could reply in case I'm mistaken.

Christ dude... I have never had a turbo leak oil that bad, hah, ouch.. No shaft play and it does that? I would be looking for a huge *** restriction in your oil return, or the seals just maybe shot..
