Default 1987 TOYOTA 4 RUNNER TURBO.....

hey just a quick question.
just picked up an 87 turbo 4 runner, stock one. the turbo went out, so the owner threw it away. and thought he could just drive it with out the turbo hooked up. he capped off the oil lines and coolent line. a new turbo for the application is $650.00. but i have a perfectly fine T3 sittin in the garage. if i hook it up will it work ok, and how about an intercooler, can one of those be hooked up as well? not lookin to make a monster machine out of this truck. just want a decent 4x4 winter driver. she is in perfect shape{except missing the turbo}. and it was only $800.00. some input would be cool. and dont think there is any info in the FAQ section. allready looked. thanks

try to match the size of the turbo up as closely to the stock one as you can. if the t3 works well then try it. btw try posting in the fi section

You can intercool any turbo car, truck, van, go kart, etc. if there is enough room. You may need an adapter plate if the stock turbo did'tn already have a t3 flange. I did not know they made turbo 4runners now I have something else to look for when I go to the junk yards

its what i kinda figured, but just wanted to check with you fella's. you guys know alot more about this than i. the turbo i have is off of an 2.2 . and i do belive the 22RE is a 2.2. but i saw some pics of a "factory" snail shell off of a 22RE and its much smaller than the one i plan on using. will this pose a problem? thanks for the input.

Its hard to say without seeing which t3 you are using, and with out seeing the manifold you are using, basically its hard to answer your question without pics. :P

you would have to test fit the t3 leaving enough room for an adapter plate. you will also have to figure out the oil lines because they will probably have different size fittings.
good luck

I wonder if one of the old ct supra turbos would bolt on to that manifold since they were both made by toyota.
