Default Welding experts....

Anyone here use one of those kits to convert a flux welder to use gas? I know you have to reverse the polarity but there's no provisions on my welder to do that. Can i just reverse the cables connections or is there more to it than that?

secondly why the ---- would you need to reverse the polarity, thaTS ONLY IF YOU ARE welding aluminum. gas is just a different method of shielding the welding wire.

My welder is a mig, but the instructions says it can be used as a flux core if you reverse the polarity, ie change the wires over, thats all it is

you have to change the filler wire too, I tried using flux wire w/gas and it was slightly better but it needs to go!

it might require buying the tig torch as well. not too expensie, but will hook right into your welder and gas bottle.
