Welding experts....
Anyone here use one of those kits to convert a flux welder to use gas? I know you have to reverse the polarity but there's no provisions on my welder to do that. Can i just reverse the cables connections or is there more to it than that?

That's all it is.

Re: Welding experts....
if its a cheap ebay flux core mig, then your fucked. you cant convert those to gas

Re: Welding experts....
secondly why the ---- would you need to reverse the polarity, thaTS ONLY IF YOU ARE welding aluminum. gas is just a different method of shielding the welding wire.

Re: Welding experts....
My welder is a mig, but the instructions says it can be used as a flux core if you reverse the polarity, ie change the wires over, thats all it is

Re: Welding experts....
Mint so after i get this thing all setup i'll finally have some nicer pipes O0

Re: Welding experts....
you have to change the filler wire too, I tried using flux wire w/gas and it was slightly better but it needs to go!

Re: Welding experts....
I thought you used ac to weld aluminum?

Re: Welding experts....
it might require buying the tig torch as well. not too expensie, but will hook right into your welder and gas bottle.
