LOL...when I first got mine it took me a few minutes to even realize how to even get it into reverse. "press the stick DOWN"..huh!?!

 

I can totally see how that could happen.

When I was in high school my buddy had a Jetta and the lock mechanism was broken (normally you have to push down or it wouldn't go into reverse), so you couldn't really tell the difference between reverse and first gear. LoL.. what a piece of ----.

At every stop light I would guess where first is, and then let the clutch out a bit to make sure I wasn't in reverse, then leave it there until the light changed.

I don't understand why VWs have reverse right there where first is? Seems like lots of people would have problems like this.
