I was wondering if i can use a non vtec crankshaft on a vtec engine?

 

can i use other crankshaft from B18, B16, D16? I wasnt sure and wanted to find out. Crankshaft cost $100 used at ebay? ---- I need to hit the junkyard

 

you can use d's with d's and b's with b's vtec or non its cool

 

Most of the time yes, but D15's and D16 cranks dont mix.

B18a/b and B20b/z cranks are the same

B18c1/c5 GSR and B16a cranks can be swapped into non-vtec blocks but you will need to use the correct rods for it to work right.

 

I would agree, don't mix D15 and D16 cranks they are a little different

 

whats wrong with your crank? usually you can have them cleaned up if you spun a bearing or something like that. they make .25 and .50 undersized bearings to compensate for clean-up on a crank. the machine shop will most likely charge u less than 100 for cleanup....just a thought.
