ok, as most of you know, i did a write up on my filled A6 block and have been driving it for 3000 miles @ 15-20 PSI now.

this morning it was rather cool out, and on the way to work it started to overheat in the parking lot at the gas station. but, when i took off down the road, it went back to normal temp. it did this one more time when i was stopped at the light but settled back down when i took off again.

now, at work i checked all of the head studs (ARP's) to make sure none of them snapped or loosened, replaced thermostat, and rad cap, checked the plugs for coolant, and looked down in the bores also for coolant to no avail.

last time i was having an overheating problem, i would overheat when in boost, and found out that i lifted the head (stripped the threads out of the block)

now it is doing it in a reverse maner. "hot when idling" and i do have heat comming out of the vents

fan is hooked up direct, listed items above were replaced today, and checks were made.

any ideas as to what i could do next? can a waterpump blade become detached from the shaft and spin independently?

could be T-stat stuck half close, the fan or water pump.

 

i hope you figure out the problem soon without bad news about the filled block because i am really looking forward to doing mine soon

 

Perhaps the heater core is cloged or jamed up ?

 

Poor radiator flow would do that. partially plugged or not enough surface area to cool.

 

its probly the curse of the CRX gods on mount olympis daming you for having that shitty unpainted body kit.

actually it could be ther water pump, or something clogged up in the coolant system like a clogged artery after the original owner sees how gay'd you made his car

 

dude, your fan isn't turning on... it should be obvious that when you're ok if moving and not when stopped, the fan isn't running to keep you cool when stopped. Check to see if it runs, or is still hooked up...

 

jung, that's what I was leaning towards yesterday, but he says his fan is hooked up "directly", which I can only assume means to a switch. so unless it isn't turning on, it has to be something else.

 

radiator.... try flushing it out, or a new one.
