04 Sentra Se-R Spec V Turbo......
hey guys a buddy of mine asked me to find out what it would take to turbo his Spec V. Not a parts list but like if DSM 450's would work or even some from a SR20DET motor would swap in? As well as what kind of management he would have to run? I've heard of guys turboing this car before and have used a SAFC which would get the job done but I know is kinda risky for running boost. He's ONLY looking to get 8psi on his motor with stock internals, which is the border line I know. Also if anyone knows what the QR25DE's weekness is so it cant spin above 6500rpm safely we'd appreciate the info. I spent the last few hours doing google searches for these answers but had little luck. I know that most of us HMT'ers are Honda guys but I figured I'd ask for any help and suggestions that you all could offer and figured there has to be a few Nissan guys on here. the QR25DE motor is a great engine... but 6500 rpm is alot, ive heard of a few kids spinning rod bearings because the journals are soo small and it has such a long stroke (thats why it has mondo bottom end) Dsm 450ccs wont work on this engine, and the sr20Det is hugely different... Fuel managemant isnt a problem (maybe an safc would work) but youll have to do somthing with retarding the timing... is this going on Zack's car? Transmissions i hear are pretty weak in those cars... but dont know what happens with them...
yeah it's goin on Zak's. I've been hastlin him for a while and today in service. The displacement is made up by an 89mm diameter and 100mm of stroke so it is HUGE! I'm tryin to find more info out for him but I'm not too worried since he said he will do it when his warranty's up which will be a little while. By the way, the 90 Civic got total'd on Feb 16th on my way to work so as of right now I'm w/out a vehicle till the Black car comes back on the road. Still tryin to come up with a name for her. In about 3-4 weeks my engine will be done, right now it's just a bare block in my dad's garage
, and in a month I'm gonna buy another B18 from the yard to start sleeving it to __mm and building it for Boostah'. But it's for me to know and you all to find out about
. Any more help on this subject however is greatly appreciated, unless it's from hotrex... then It's just irritating(West Side FOREVER!). BTW, I counted 6 turbo's awaiting rebuild kit's when I borrowed tools from John

All's well. What turbo would you suggest and what boost? He said he'd be fine with only a safe 5-6 lb's if that's all he could run cuz we figured that aught to put him up to about 260hp. He wants to find somethin that will spool 5psi by 2500-3000 since he can only rev 6500. Inwhich I told him that pretty much any turbo will spool 5lb's at 2500. I counted six!.....
