Default if FMU's and high pressure fuel pumps suck......

if FMU and high pressure fuel pumps suck so bad...then why does vortech use them on there supercharger kits? making over 260 horsepower @8 psi(on b16a2)..the aftercooled version..everyone says FMU are only good to 7PSI. So how come everyone with the vortech supercharger isnt blowing up there motors?just a question.

From a kit manufacturers perspective, its a very cheap solution to achieve adequate results. Sure they dont nail you air/fuel dead on, but in low boost applications they get close enough to produce decent dyno numbers which sell.

With the onset of Ghettodyne and the like, there is almost no reason (ecu permiting) to rely on a rising rate.

In the end though, cheap prices, ease of install and the ability to supply adequate fuel in low boost apps, rising rates will always be around.
As usual, it comes down to $$$$$$

I have a friend with a Mustang who went thru the whole FMU routine with miserable results. Inconsistent fuel pressures and therefore AF readings under boost, high pressures causing the fuel lines to leak, suspecting that the fuel pressures were forcibly shutting the injectors, etc.

He got a MAF calibrated for bigger injectors and ran a smaller disc in his FMU (6:1 I think it was) and all those problems went away, because fuel pressures were no longer making the pump strain or exerting force to shut the injectors, etc. At that point, he could have bought a TwEECer for what he paid, but Mustang boys aren't too smart.

I won't diss an FMU in the large view of things, but for a Honda it's a stupid ASSumption of a kit maker to think that the high fuel pressures make for a good fuel system for their kit.

the only reason they do it is to make cars emissions legal. jackasses lol

blame the politicians in cali if you don't like it.

You don't think other setups aren't emissions legal? When they dyno test you, they test idle emissions quality and cruising (closed loop) emissions quality. If the dyno operator is spooling your turbo without it even making boost, the test is supposed to be redone.

The EPA doesn't care about emissions at WOT, because there's no way to mandate it.
