You should add a socket for the 74HC they're only 20-30¢ if you buy em in bulk and that would be your "added value" over the other guys

Also, what are the specs on the caps and that resistor?

the 74hc's don't need a socket, however, the 29c does, it' doesn't mate up to that dip socket

Anytime I add any IC, I use a socket. It just makes it so much easier to not fry the IC when soldering it on and makes replacement for incompatible IC's a snap.
