whats the difference between the two engines? i personally like the D16a6 but dont know too much about the y7? is that the engine with vtec-e?? that economical vtec bullshit?? which is better for boost/stronger? dont mention the z6 or y8. just these two....

 

d16a6 is obd0 and d16y7 is a obd2 motor.

the y series motors have weak as oil pumps (or so I hear) I have a y8 and was told that they have shitty oil pumps.

if you're going to do a 88-91 crx / civic stick to a d16a6 for the obd0 reason. otherswise you have to deal with converting and ----..

oh yeah, the y's have dip sticks off to the side lol

yeah well i know the a6 is obd0 cuz i have one. i know the y7 is obd2. i mean since they are both 1.6 non-vtec how do they compare in general. a6 is rated at 108hp. what is the y7 rated at?? are the rods, pistons and block the same? a6 compression is like 9:1:1 right? i could be wrong. what is the y7 compression? just wondering...

I have worked on too many y7/y8 motors with blown bearings. The oil pump must be complete crap just did a swap last week on a stock y8 w. 70,000 miles replaced it w/ a jdm d15 sohc vtec
