Default Blown engine like WOAH (56k, good luck) (more pics, new)

Here was my setup:

d15b7
ihi rbh5 turbo, 7psi internal wg
hf manifold
dsm 450cc injectors
uberdata
cca intercooler

Well... I was running 7psi without intercooler, and when I installed my new intercooler my boost pressure dropped to about 5-6 psi unfortunately. Got tired of it, and cranked up the boost. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves:

The car

We were logging with the wideband, making a few runs on approx. 13 psi. Yes, 13 psi. The plan was to get an Integra engine when this one blew, I just didn't expect it to happen this fast. This is pretty much the point of impact, as you can see by the miles of oil going down the road. Apparently we had some decent speed. The carnage:

Even after we got the car home, it was still bleeding like a sonofabitch:

Here's a shot of our initial inspection, the front of the block... not good:

Next shot. Well, this looks normal, no wait--ummm that piston doesn't look so good... apparently there was some contact with the valves...

If some of you are still wondering how this engine could have blown, here's your answer:

Wow, i've never seen a rod chew up a block this bad before. This is a shot of the back of the block, same cylinder. Check it out:

Here's the money shot, looking up through the engine, the rod completely chewed through everything around it:

And the leftovers in the pan:

After reviewing this datalog readout, I can come to only one conclusion: lots of boost + weakest honda engine ever = engine no workie

The green line is my afr, pretty good... low 12s... pink line is throttle, you can see I was just shifting from 3rd to 4th... The light blue line is the voltage from my map sensor. As you can see, it looks like I reached the limit of the stock sensor being able to read how much boost I was running. Interestingly, I didn't run lean however. As soon as I got in 4th gear, it went boom, my rpms stumbled as you can see, and my afrs were all over the place. I think if the rods were stronger I would have held it just fine. We'll see as soon as I get the LS engine in.

Nice

I friend here in walla walla detonated #1 in his 7bolt 4g63 since he was going to swap a 6bolt in anyways... It blew about half the back of the block off, the rod for #1 has gone missing, along with most of the piston

I'm suprised that there isn't more damage to your block.
