How bad are the valves? You can see they tapped a little bit.

The valves seem to have only cosmetic damage. I'll post pics later, along with the "little rod that could" when I remove the crank.

Don't boost the d15 over 7psi and you'll do fine. Make sure you're nice and rich, and there's no detonation. If you do this, your d should give you at least 20-30k miles without a problem, if not more. If you want more boost, you need a different engine--as you can see.

hmm...I must have done something wrong, because I try to calculate the voltage when it blew into PSI and I only got 8.25 psi. So if i'm right, it blows up at 8.25psi?

Look at the voltage curve. It cuts off at about 4.5 volts because it reached the limit of the stock map sensor. Based on the curve prior to that point, and assuming the wastegate was disabled (which it was) the boost curve kept climbing even after the sensor wasn't able to go any higher. The boost guage itself was reading 13-14 psi before it blew.

Edit: When the stock wastegate was in place, the boost guage was reading 7psi, but both the SAFC and the stock map sensor were reading 4.5 psi. The boost guage and wastegate work off of relative pressure, and the map sensor works off of absolute pressure.

LOL nice explosion... but we're still pushing .73 bar through my buddy's b7 hatch -- for 25k miles and counting... with a greddy kit + uberdata tuned by me, by ear.

You guys just must be finding weak ones? Or not running mobil1. I swear, mobil1 just makes my motor stay alive....
