I have heard different stories, but what do you guys think? Is it more powerful to supercharge or turbo a car and maybe why the benefits of having one better than the other. I have heard the bigger sized motors are better off with superchargers than turbos. What do you guys think is a better hp gainer part.

 

well superchagers are great on v6's and v8's....with a 4 cyl id rather run turbo...supercharger is great cause u get that torque off the line that u need...but turbo has the infamous lag issue til it spools....but then again...all the worlds fastest honda's run turbo's...it all really depends on ur budget...one thing to take in consideration is to turn up the boost on a supercharger u have to take off the belt...plus sometimes u will need a bigger one for more juice....on a turbo its just a turn of the wastegaste ****...nothing to take off unless its a gay *** setup...but if ur gonna try and do this right...id say turbo...but only my oppinion

 

Do superchargers usually cost more?

 

Another consideration of mine is, what has better Horse Power gains, a turbo or sc.

 

see...a supercharger is from a company...ur gonna pay more....a turbo kit u can do it the homemade style...so turbo is cheaper..horsepower gains....i think turbo is best....but thats just me

 

Is it possible to SC and turbo a car both at the same time or are they way different setups?

 

personally i like turbos thay are easier to work with to me and you don't need power from the belts to turn a turbo. I think we had a post about this before.

Turbos are more efficient because they use the wasted heat and pressure energy coming from the exhaust, while superchargers use power directly from your crankshaft to compress incoming air.

In short, turbos use wasted energy that wouldn't be used anyways, while superchargers use useful energy from your crankshaft.

BTW-Damn that custom kit on the Saturn turned out nice!
