It says in the manual to earth the brown wire closer to the ecu than the black..

But can i earth the wires just onto a bolt, or onto different bolts in the cabin?

...you need to A) *ground* the wires in the correct order, and B) they are in-line to the ECU, not grounded to the chassis.

I would put them at least an inch to an inch and a half apart, brown closer than black.

Thats exactly what the manual specifically tells you not to do... the way turboef9 explained is the only way it should be done.

 

As i said, its all sorted .. Just that the freakin' guy that i got it off tried to extent the wires, but joined the correct colour wires to different colours.. I initially hooked it up as per manual but the engine ran like ----, so i cut back the shrink wrap stuff and checked it out.. Its all working now. The earth wire was green after he extended it
