Default open downpipe

K, I just finished installing a 14b custom turbo kit and it's boosting about 9 - 10 psi but it's running with the downpipe not connected to the cat. It's about 6 or 7 inches away from the cat and it's really loud! haha, anyway, it pulls like a **** but I know that once I reconnect the downpipe to the cat it'll be a lot quieter and a lot slower, but my question is how much horsepower am I looking to sacrifice once I reconnect it?

depends on exhaust size, and if your cat is gutted or what.. might get a 10 hp loss, maybe more..

yah, so we connected the downpipe and it's HELLA quiet! Sounds so good, you can't even tell that the car has an exhaust. It's actually more quiet than N/A with the intake and header!! hahaha, as for the power loss, we lost about 1.5 psi (just under 2 actually) and we're boosting at around 7 now...provided that the gauge is working properly. I did notice a bit in a power drop but not by much, and the sound just makes it all worth while. I'm sure we'd be pulled over eventually cuz an open downpipe is freaking loud!!!!!

Cool man,
I'm not really into super loud exhausts on turbo cars,
cuz you want to hear that turbo spoolin right?
hows ur turbo sound btw?

Oh, and if you lost 1.5lb boost, then why dont u just bump it up? You cant adjust ur wastegate? or get a boost controller?

I ask not to tell what to do, but rather to find out if it'd work.

thanks
