i know all fmus are bad :P but i think mine is really bad. im running a 12:1 fmu with a walbro 255 in the tank. my wg is set at 4 psi(only hitting 3 right now?) im under the impression that i am running so rich im not making power.the car runs really rich it uses a LOT of gas,and loads up and bogs at low rmp in a high gear.i pulled out my dipstick and the oil smells like gas really bad.i thought i was shooting oil out my turbo but now im under the impression that it was raw gas .ive done some research but i can find any solid answers. so do u think my fmu is bad, anyone else had probs like this?? pls help any ideas? thoughts?

 

You should only hope it's the FMU. My guess would be the rings/head gasket if you have gas in the oil

Compression test will give you some answers.

Hmmm, I've never run an fmu nor do I have that much experience with them, but I would say at 4 psi a 12:1 would definately be too much fuel. How do your plugs look?

 

i havent pulled my plugs yet. nor have i done a comp. test. i never ran the car n/a i just swapped it and then put my kit on. i guess maybe i yank the kit off and see if it runs ok n/a? i just thought maybe the gas in the oil was from there being so much gas in the cylinder it was running past the rings or it was mixing with the oil when my ring brough the oil up?

 

whatever problems it did have n/a are only going to be amplified with boost.

first things you should have done would be a leakdown test, compression and ---- on any motor that yo have no experience with. Matter of fact I'm going to run compression on the v8 tomorrow just cause I like doing it every few months.

 

figured out what it was...it was only running on 2 cyl. the igniter was bad. man this thing feels good at 4 psi cant wait to turn it up. thanks guys!

 

just turn the boost up.im running 6-7 on a 12-1 works great
