Define not engage?

I have a common problem on my rock crwaler where if I get to an area that is all the way nose down and shut if off that it won't restart. The bendix will pop out and just "hang" not even pushing over the motor. I found out the reason for this was cause my frame is bent to ---- and the tranny is putting too much pressure on the starter for it to cleanly act with the flywheel. No, the problem doesn't exist on any other direction, including flat, or nose all the way up.

maybe there is a difference in b16 & b18 flywheels? On chevy v8s, there are two different known flywheel types, then a few subdivisions (no i don't know the teeth count at this moment).

The flywheels between all b-series are interchangeable, the clutches/pp's are not.
Id say try another starter, maybe you got the wrong one. or check on that flywheel, it may have badly damaged teeth.

Post up what you find, im a bit interested to know.
