the other day i went to pick up my son and granddaughter
to get his car from the stereo shop on the way in to his
apartmnt i saw him driving a new si and said wtf. it was a friend of his who WAS a true V8 head and said he would never have anything to do with an import till he rode in the del sol. well i had to see what my new set up would do
in my 89 HB d15 block/d16 head built by gude the full coarse
with the 272 team cam new ACT stg2 clutch,fidanza 10# FW
skunk2 chip and a few other mods against the 2004si
well the results went in my favor by 2.5 cars. eric was pissed, but still happy with his SI and plans to spend 4000.00 to put a greddy kit on it (he's a rich bitch) so money is no object. hopefully by next month i'll get my car on the dyno and post the results

 

Funny, I see this hapening more and more. I was watching the shown that Funkmaster Flex does, and makes car for celebrities and such, he was interviewing Carroll Shelby, and asked him is he felt that the muscle cars are coming back because of the return of cars like the ssr, the gto, and such. His answer was something like What impresses me the most is this young guys taking the little 4 cyl hondas and toyotas and making them fast in the 1/4 mile, they get to 180 175 mph and are running 10 seconds. Something like that, FMF changed the subject quickly and ended the interview. I thought that was funny. recognition from mister Shelby himself.

Yeah, even the kit car ones can be nice. I know alot of guys that were big v8 nuts and then they liked honda/acura power when they saw fnf and what not... i was into this stuff way before fnf like most of the people on this board prolly. Also Larry Widmer from Endyn was a huge v8 drag race guy that went to honda...

The thing about Carol Shelby is that he wasn't necesarily just a V8 guy. He was building turbo 4's when most of us were just little kids. He designed the Dodge Omni GLHS (Goes Like Hell Shelby) which was way ahead of it's time. He specifically built it to keep up with the european cars that he thought were overpriced and under performing.
