Default temp guage always on cool

my temp guage is always running only about 1/8 of the way up when its cold outside. and when its really hot out it only reads about 1/4 of the way up. Shouldnt it alwas be at 1/2 way up in temp? Is it maybe because thermostat went out and is stuck all the way open?

do you mean what is it rated at? Im not sure its a 96 integra. I have had cars before when the t-stat goes out is stays closed and causes overheating but not open

dude, im going through the exact same thing. My heater takes forever to heat up and i get to where im going with my *** frozen off before the heater even gets warm enough. I think my fiance had put more coolant into my car before but it has always run like this for over a year since i bought it. But ill check into that though.

another thing..
if this is in a Honda/Acura

The guage sending unit could be corroded and causing bad readings...

I just replaced mine.

It's located under the distributer, screwed into the head.. one single pin comes out, and a wire connector slips over the pin.

about $10 from Autozone.

If its simply not getting warm, its very possible you just have a bad thermostat.. simply replace it with a OE t-stat.
