temp guage always on cool
my temp guage is always running only about 1/8 of the way up when its cold outside. and when its really hot out it only reads about 1/4 of the way up. Shouldnt it alwas be at 1/2 way up in temp? Is it maybe because thermostat went out and is stuck all the way open?

I used to "always run cool".
It sucked!! My heater, yes, would get "warm", but it wouldn't get hot. And it would take forever to even get "warm".
My problem was simple.. Too much anti-freeze. I didn't do a proper mix. Drained it, mixed it correctly, and Aaaahh.. warm car in the winter.
Have you messed with your coolant recently? Possibly an airbubble or something? Drain your system and refill it, making sure that you un tighten the nipple on your top radiator hose to let air out as it fills.

dude, im going through the exact same thing. My heater takes forever to heat up and i get to where im going with my *** frozen off before the heater even gets warm enough. I think my fiance had put more coolant into my car before but it has always run like this for over a year since i bought it. But ill check into that though.
another thing..
if this is in a Honda/Acura
The guage sending unit could be corroded and causing bad readings...
I just replaced mine.
It's located under the distributer, screwed into the head.. one single pin comes out, and a wire connector slips over the pin.
about $10 from Autozone.
