i and my roomate installed a turbo on his car. he has a vafc and t3 turbo kit with 450cc, and msd kit. once car is boosted the check engine light comes on and car bogs out major. once we turn off the egnition and back on it's clears itself then continues with the same problem. can someone please help me out on this.

 

does the cel stay on until you turn the ignition off? if so, why don't you try to get the code for us

 

no, the check engine lights turns off after the car is shut down.

 

i wonder if you can jump the service wire while the car is running

 

what happens if i unsrew the map sensor.

 

Is the VAFC reading boost or vacuum, make sure it's set to 760mm Hg

 

theres three choices on that of which you mentioned. two read 760mm hg to +1 and the other 760hg mm +2

 

Maybe yours has different programming than mine, I got mine from a friends trip to hong kong.

the options I have are
760mm Hg
1kg/cm²
2kg/cm²

the first is what you want, that is vacuum, the second is 1bar and the third is 2bar. The VAFC is sending this value to your ECU, if your VAFC tells you how much boost you have, then it's telling your ECU that as well. Since the car is made to run N/A it freaks out and goes into a 'safety' mode.

try the two different ones that have the 760mm Hg, it should be the one farthest away from +2. Hope that solves your problem.

 

You should still be able to pull the code. Try it and see what happens.
