Default I need a mechanic....

Okay, im a complete dumbass when it comes to cars. I never learnt anything about them so im 100% ignorant on how to repair them. My Slave cylinder went on my 94 Integra and i need to pay $45 for a tow and somewhere in the $225-250 range for a new slave cylinder and the repair. That seems like a lot of money for a $40 part.....so if any of you are in NJ and want to pick up some extra money doing repairs now and then contact me via email Sta1173@rcn.com or AIM: Billab2ong...i dont really want to hear "learn how to do it yourself". i appreciate the fact that some people know how to do stuff i dont know how to do and im willing to pay for those services....i just dont like paying the super high prices of going through a shop...rather give the money to someone on this site.

the best thing that you could do is buy a shop manual. this is a really easy repair and it doesnt take very long, you should just read about it, and then decide what you want to do

*nods head*, you could spend 20 bucks on a manual and 50 bucks on the part, you'd have it done in an hour for 70 bucks. in your own words, yes you are "ignorant"

but if i ---- it up and blow my transmission...thats a $400 mistake and a transmission isnt a 1 hour job....so all in all sometimes i think its better to pay and get it done correctly...

dude, you won't mess it up i promise. get a manual and just look at and see how simple it is. please don't take to a mechanic for this, if anything, when you get it off and are confused, you can just ask questions here (i don't think you'll have any though)

this slave cylinder can't screw up the tranny. its for the clutch pedal assisst. just swap the part, and start the car. in neutral pump the clutch like 5 times and check for leaks.. thats all.
