Default Ebay turbos and parts?????

Do ebay parts even last, like i bought an OBX turbo manifold and downpipe.
hasnt came in yet but everyone despises them because they break/crack and wont last.
do people hate ebay general i just dont understand.

who has bought or peiced together a turbo kit and has used it personally.
did it last, was it worth it, how is it holding up at the moment and were there any problemes.

im on a budget and can pull out the turbo kit and install it myself, but
i own a 03 ford focus zx3 and u need some xcal or type of device to tune the car regardless

my luck it costs almost 400$ and the tune will cost that or more. so its like doubles what im paying??

Lot's of people have had bad experiences with ebay turbos. There are a few that get one that works fine for them, but they tend to be the exception, not the rule. As far as tuning, spend the money and do it right. It would suck to put $1,000 in parts on your ride and have a blown engine b/c you don't want to spend $4-800 to have it run safe.

He sells those kits, so his opinion is slightly biased. Holding the turbo = not letting the compressor wheel spin on the first start up. This gives oil a chance to get into the turbo before it starts spinning and theoretically extends the life of the bearing.

For low boost apps, knock off parts should be fine, but I would still never use a CDM turbo. You can get a decent used turbo for the same/less that, in my opinion, would be a better gamble.
