Recently picked up a 1996 328i (850 bucks!), of course it will be boosted, but been running into EM issues. Was thinking piggy back e-manage or pp6, but not having luck on finding timing control. Can I run an inexpensive standalone, unplug pass emissions, plug back in (mega-squirt) be on my merry way? I came from the subaru world so engine management was plentiful, but the bimmer stuff is expensive and junk all at the same time.... Suggestions

look around the bimmerforums for a guy named goathumper, he has an adapter board that uses your original wiring harness to interface with the megasquirt.

And hey I'm a 328 guy and just so happen to have a nice megasquirt for sale. If you want it I could help you with the hardware mods to get it to work on you 328. I've been rocking megasquirt for a while so... LMK

 

DIYautotune.com is coming out with a pnp kit for the 88pin motronic soon, be patient and wait for that because it will much easier than hacking at the stock wiring harness to put in a normal MS.

 

Which brings me to the next idea. Anyone have any junk obdii DMEs? Maybe I could fit it in a stock case so its PNP. Sucks though i dont think they have sequential setup for 6 inj drivers. but batch fire will work for most.
