the motor is a stock d16z6 with a garrett 57 trim. i put about 100 miles on this so far and the noise hasnt gotten any worse. oil pressure is where its suppose to be 20psi and idle 60-65 psi 3k rpms. what do you guys think that ticking noise could be?

 

could be something loose or the shaft fins are hitting the inside of the turbo?

hell yeah that ---- is annoying. its been like about for about 2 weeks. 100+ miles with that ticking noise . at first i thought it was a bearing.. but it if it was my oil pressure is suppose to be low..


the turbo doesnt have any shaft play and it spins at idle..

 

damn idk then. why dont you take it to a shop for an inspection?

 

because i'm a diy'er like many people on this site and thought my problem might challenge the minds of other fellow diy'ers so we can all learn. guess nobody knows. i removed the oilpan and couldnt find a fault. no metal shavings in the oil pan. no bent rods. nothing. guess i'll have to tear it down. pics coming soon i guess.

 

its hard to hear but have you tried adjusting your valve lash?

 

yeah sounds like something in the valve cover maybe the cam? Something is def At the wrong spec
