Hey all,

I'm hoping to start a turbo project for the spring. I'm totally new to this game, but have a decent general understanding of what I'm trying to do. I plan on boosting my d16y8 w/ 130,000km 5-7psi, w/ intercooler, w/ fuel management, and keeping A/C. I'm using the GReddy turbo kit as a general blueprint.

First things first, how can I check if my engine is mechanically ready for forced induction?

Do a compression test and a leak down test couldn't hurt, but isn't crucial for boosting. The main thing to worry about is cylinder/piston/ring condition. Hopefully your motor was treated good and had frequent oil changes.

I'll get a compression test done sometime this week then, thanks. that test would probably point out any gasket, valve, etc. deficiencies, eh?
