Default PVC system on turboed vehicle

I'm seeing a little oil in the push in filter in my valve cover. normally there was a hose from my VC to the cold air intake to get filtered air in when the PVC was working. I removed that hose and installed a small push on breather. the stub out of the VC was only 3/4" I'm working my way up in boost and now that i'm over 7psi i'm starting to see oil collect in the small breather. I've heard of guys installing electric smog pumps off of late model GM vehicles using a 1 to 2 psi switch to turn it on under boost? is this about the only thing that works other than taking my VC's off and installing more breather tubes in them?

Thanks

you have the completely wrong idea of what the pvc system is. if your pushing oil out of the v/c then you are pretty much too late to fix it your rings are really hating you right now. you need to remove the pcv and get a catch can setup on the quick. i would not hit boost with out one. you are forcing air into your crankcase which in turn is pushing all that pressure right past your rings which is ------- up your rings.

so your saying to take the pvc system off and plug the TB where it hooks up. Where do I install the catch can? My buddy has a turbo 5.3 in his silverado and he's just got 2 large K&N breathers, one in each valve cover.
and no PVC system.

what I have is a Ford Excursion V10 with 58,000 miles. As soon as I saw the oil I pulled the plugs, They look excellent, compression check is great, all 10 within 5% of each other. Let me know what you think.

Might want to do a leak down test to see how bad things are.....a rebuild might be in the near future. Until then a really big catch cans with a drain back to the oil pan would be a good idea.

I use a thing on my system called a "krankvent". Think of it as a pcv valve on steroids. A pcv valve is really designed to stop a "back fire" from entering the crankcase or wrong side of the head so to speak. I don't remember how much pressure the krankvent is advertized as holding back now, but it's way over 50 psi. I use this krankvent in conjuntion with the pcv valve, with the other side of the valve cover vented to atmosphere. I still get all the benefits of positive crankcase ventilation, no sludge build-up, when not in boost, but when I'm under boost this thing is absolutely closed, and the so called "breather side" lets out any pressure buildup, and this is all without the need for a catchcan at all!
The crankvent is that little silver thing next to the pcv valve, and on the other side of the valve cover, next to the charge pipe, you can see i'm just vented out:
