Had one apart 2 weeks ago looked like a mouse had chewed off 1/2 of the intake valve engine had sat for 2 years.
If you have access to shop air blow shop air into the cylinder on the compression stroke and see if you hear any air rushing out. If you hear air rushing out intake suspect bent or broken valve same for exhaust if you hear air coming out of oil cap or dip stick broken rings (highly unlikely for 0 compression.) also some Honda engines are notorious for sticking valves if they sat a while due to carbon deposits check your valve clearance and see if one is suck down a little bit.

Great! Just great! Guys, dont leave your motors sitting around for too long because cylinder mice will nest in them and eat them from the inside out!

Must have gotten a little warm, was the motor boosted? I've seen valves look like that come out of motors that have had a little too much nitrous run through them.

I think that would be hot spots on your valves. Kinda like detonation. It just melts the valve away. Let me guess it was only on the face of the valve and not on the back side beyond where it seats right?
