Default ZC drop in?

im going to be purchasing an 88 crx hf and will be going with a ZC motor for it. will it drop right in using stock mounts? im familiar with all the b-series engines and what they bolt into but im not sure about the D- series. im basing my decision on which motor to buy (either zc or b-series) solely on whether or not the ZC will bolt it, thanks alot for your help, and if this has been asked before dont yell to much, i AM a newbie

the black top zc will bolt right in. if you use a dx or si tranny, or even hf, you wont even have to get the different axles required for the zc tranny. super simple swap...ive done a few of them in the last 6 months. easiest bang for the buck=get a 89-91 si tranny, bolt it to the zc, go faster easier.

i was also planning on doing a ZC swap, but i heard that keeping it maintained and tuned is the hard part. i mean everything has to come from Japan. please someone prove me wrong so maybe i could consider a ZC swap on my "other" CRX.

whoever told you everything has to come from japan knows nothing about dohc zc's. besides being a very easy and affordable swap, they yeild good torque, a fairly high redline, and an awesome exhaust note...haha. seriously, aftermarket pistons are sold here, d series rods work, all the seals are 86-89 integra, the rings are the same as the 86-89 integra or any d series, technically, any d series pistons will work, you can get the cams reground, or hunt down some ultra rare hks billets, cam gears are made, same as b series basically, jun makes a set for the zc. almost everything is either 89 integra or a crx/civic. the only oddball thing is the timing belt, its a 88 prelude 2.0 dohc. its sold at any good auto parts store. spark plug wires are 89 integra, plugs are any d series, injectors are 89-91 si, the trannies all bolt up to d series trannies, flywheels do too, it even uses american oil! (kidding by the way, you have to order your oil special from japan, overnight, one million dollars a quart) . anyways, sorry about the rambling, but i LOVE the zc, its a great motor. so screw anyone who says otherwise.

"Maintained and tuned"

That’s a false statement.. People bring this bad myth with the ZC, that its a shitty motor and that parts are incredibly hard to find for it. Basically guys it's damn near identical to a D16a1 Integra motor. It has a few different characteristics, mount location, and cam/intake design. But that’s it. 2g blacktops are very easy swaps to do in 4g civics. It's like a R&R Swap, nothing special at all (DX's are a bit of a pain with DPFI-MPFI)

Kevin @ www.quickhonda.net has a good parts list.

i wanted to do a ZC swap on my other CRX, but i was afraid of those problems. (like the ones i am having now with the B16a1), i had the hardest time finding spark plugs...etc. Anyways thatnks for clearing the air, once i get more info on this ZC i might go ahead and try to do the swap. Just to make sure, the ZC is identical to the D16A1? Which parts are different? Is there a site where i can get a COMPLETE listing of the parts (or can you list EVERYTHING), so I can get the motor tuned as soon as i get it?

No they are not IDENTICLE.. they are very similar. Parts off the d16a6 & d16a1 will get you your ZC parts for just about anything. Spark plugs? stock a6 ones work fine.

wow thanks for al the replies guys. im thinking im gonna get the motor, tranny, and ecu combo from nippon motors when someone buys my integra. i dont want to use the hf tranny it has almost 200k on it and im sure it wont hold up to the huge, steaming pile of hp im going to make with this motor (if u could call a target et of 13.0 a huge steaming pile of power). do any of you know if nippon motors includes axles with their setups? or if they dont, where is a good place to get a good low milage jdm motor? thanks guys
