How do i know if i have a z6 trans or not .. im not sure of the numbers , havent really looked them up yet but it came with a z6 darksol baught along *** time ago .. and im sick of my dx trans. the guy swore it was from an ex. So anyone know the numbers to identify it .. forgot to mention its an S20 or somthin like that ill check it after work today

 

look for B000 in a small nickel sized circle by the fill plug. if you see the circle and it says A000 its not an ex/si tranny.

You can also check by missing a gear while street racing, if the the shift fork snaps, you have a Z6 tranny (aluminum shift forks), but if they shift fork just bends, you have a Y8 tranny (steel shift forks). :P

 

yep, broken shifter fork you can still use the gears, like first and second..........

I disagree. The pieces from the shift fork can wedge in your tranny gears preventing your car from moving at all. Trust me on this one lol...

 

or it ***** up #2 synchro and that the only gear you have............

IS the 96-00 tranny ratio same as on the Mista Bone site? How can you tell if its a DX,LX or CX if they all have the A000.

 

96-00 A000 = put it in 5th gear tuen the mainshaft 10 times, report back the diff rotations

3.5 = LX
3.83 = DX HB
4.04 = CX HB
