Also go steal scotch brite pads from the kitchen and see how deep those grooves are

Not exactly grooves, but feel more like excess metal on the cap itself. Bad part is that it actually has a ridge or a lip on he one in the pic almost as if the cam wore the cap down some.
What are your thoughts on it being the same cam cap as before?

Damn Joe that sucks. I think I can get you a cheap head local. Might be time to send a head off to Chris(Xeno) friend for a really bad *** port job.

WHOA THE ---- UP THERE.

You might want to consider pulling the engine and putting new bearings in it. Last time I saw a weak oil pump the #4 rod bearing (furthest from pump) was on the slow road to destruction.
