Z6 Block Y8 Head HELP!!

Default Z6 Block Y8 Head HELP!!

Hey guys , im new on here, im on alot of diff forums but i havnt really got a definate answer so im asking on here. I drive a 90 4 door EX with a Z6 block an Y8 head, everthing else is stock on the car. Now, im running really lean in the higher rpms for some reason, i know other guys that have this setup an it runs ok. Any suggestions? Feels like im runnin rich down low too. Anyone help? Any ideas? Thanks

are you using anything for tuning? stock ECU? I didnt even realize there was an EX in 90. What ECU does it have, we'll start there.

also, how lean? have you put this on a wideband?

The ex's in 90 had the same engine an everyting as the Si's. So i have the PM6 ecu. Right now i have nothing tuning it, i have a feilds afc but its not hooked up yet, an its runnin really lean, i get pingin at around 5-6000

how do you know this pinging is becasue of being lean??

Sounds more like the igntion timing is fucked up.

I jus assumed it was from running lean. seemed like the most likely thing. How do i adjust ignition timing? Or check it for that matter. What should it be set at? It idles fine .

wait? you're running a d16z6/y8 combo on a non-vtec ecu and asking why it doesnt run right?

pretty obvious answer to your problem right there.

Well waht should i do? I bought the car like this, im jus trying to fix it. I have a feilds controller for vtec engagment an to help with the fuel. Should i swap out ecu's, if so which one an what else would i have to do?

put a proper ECU in it.

did they make a 90 ex and also i thought the z6 came out later and the y8 is a vtec head isnt it?
