I could be wrong, but I think it is called a dashpot diaphram(seriously). I don't know WTF it does or if you need it, but I think that's what it's called. My sisters car(89 TEG/automatic)had one and it went bad.

well i know the one next to it (im wondering what the red circled thing is) is a dashpot that controls engine idle speed when cold.

i can blow threw the big port and that goes into the intake manifold, the small one doesnt seem to make a diff...

According to the shop manual I thinks it is the (Starting Air Valve)

if i remeber right it hooks up to one of the things in the air intake plastic pipe. mine is just dangling

yeah, trying to get it and the tranny all cleaned up then i will post some more pics off all my stuff. the motor is getting swapped in two weeks ;D now its time to go collect up my parts and get that ------ crank pulley bolt off (broke 3 1/2" to 3/4" adapters already)...

How in the ---- are you breaking 3/4 adapters? or do you mean 3/8's?

1/2 breaker bar w/ socket.. jam the flywheel and get a cheater bar.... Wala! comes right off

umm, yeah 3/8's...thats why i own a Japanese car, no fractions...

thats how i broke the adapters. btw it has a flexplate...

that would be cool....except i have no fab skills (or a welder)... not sure how im going to get that off, bent up the flexplate trying to remove that thing....

ill take a pic of what i have tomorrow, i have a 3/8 inch drive with a whatever size it is welded together with a 2 foot breaker bar. so basically i ruined 2 tools... but it works. and i broke the rachet so i only wasted 1 tool...

dont use 3/8's ---- on crank pulleys dumbass

flywheel/flexplate, doesnt matter jam something in there to stop it.

i know now that 3/8's dont work. i bought a 1/2" 19mm (6pt). the problem is that the flexplate keeps bending, makes it kinda a bitch but i got it off....
