WTF? So my trannys stuck motionless?
 

So ive owned a few diff hondas and went through 2 or 3 trannys.. i KNOW when a tranny goes, But this time my new hatch is diff. Its a 91 Hatch, Si and it has a old school b18a1 and it DEFFINITLY needs new axles the fag i got it from put ABS axles in it.. and the Cv's are ----... ANyways... I was needing gas and went to park it next to my old hatchback on the side of the house to jack some gas anyways... and while moving my car into place the car went to what feels like a permanent!!!!! nuetral ? No grind, pop, sqeel, NO SOUNDS AT ALL.... tranny NEVER grinded or had ANY problems... i had have expeiranced the axles poppin out b4 and i tried poppin these back in and making sure there not out.. but even when i put the car up on jacks and put the car in first the tires will spin.. BUT i can have me and a friend hold both tires while moving and stop them " IN GEAR " its like the clutch is slipping BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but it NEVER slipped a bit b4 while driving it.... Currently the tranny is dangling off my motor in the driveway just THINKING about what the ---- to do????? fingers stuck on the pressure plate?,,,,theres no parts in there from the plate or clutch ? HELP oh yeah and THANX for rwading this whole " story"....

Sooooooooo yeah.. im getting a bunch of views but no input DAMN! lol :6 i need SOME kind of help... tranny WAS and IS still!!!!!! so ------- smooth and quite with no grinds it SURLEY seems like the trannys still good... it just INSTANTLY from reverse the first went from in gear to NUETRAL for good now.. i let it sit for a few days and went to give it a try and i started to let out of the clutch in first and the car BUDGED!!!!!!!! forward maybe 2 inches then wont move again.. like..? i dunno.. it WANTSSSSSSS to grip and ingage but WTF.. i have no clue?

Check the linkage bolts, maybe they are waaaaay too tight. I had the same problem but mine was ---- motor mounts. It would go in gear while it wasnt running, but not while it was. Wouldnt even come out of gear while running. It was also a 91 hatch if that helps.

what disc did you use?????

Large spline disc on a small shaft?

No.. not the linkages... i just had a small battle with those... couldnt find the lil pin to lock the linkage and the tranny so i bolted it and it had WAY too much slack and never went in gear... :1 dumb ass i know but yeah linkages are good u can see and hear and even "feel" it go into gear lol.... its 100% slipping SOMEWHERE.. i mean the wheles move just with no power to them... they will spin fast but never speed up even in gear with throttle.. AND u can hold them so i dunno.. the disc. question i DUNNO ? i got the motor IN the car as a lil package deal ;) ... gay part is the kids a total ------- idot it just saved me time ... But yeah the tranny is currently kinda just " HANGING " in there.. on a jack,,, i havnt had time to go back out intot he ------- snow and freeze sum more...ANYWAYS... if the splines maybe spun off or what? but it STILL doesnt make sound while in gear or even when u hold the tires in gear... the instant it broke it just sounded and felt like someone pushed the clutch in from under the car and i didnt feel a thing ?????? im PRETTTTTTTy positive its not hte tranny because how damn smooth it was and still sounds... but while its out i gues smy christmas bonus $$$ from work will go to clutch n plate n axles.... i just dont know? :6 im gunna go smoke the problems away for tonight and wait until the $$ comes in....

Soooo yeah i loosend AND tightend the cable all the way... Just havnt had time to pully pullt he tranny to look at the disc or plate... Oh and JEFF.... im buying a Integra this weekend..HAHA yeahhhhhhhhhhh.. i just might use my boost ---- for that car? keep it as a night rider :y :6 HAHA

My buddy had a problem with a transmission, where the car would move forward and backward about 10 feet. turned out that the differential pin had broken. it didnt damage the case or anything, it just sheared, and got lodged in a gear or something.

Also when I bought my EF, it would not go in any other gear other than second, didnt matter where you had the shifter... that situation turned out to be the shift fork assembly.

mmm shifter fork could do it too-- when I put my tranny back on after the new clutch, after lubing up the assembly good, the shifter fork didn't sit really tight in there and it fell off a few times when I bumped the arm that goes to the slave cylinder trying to get it into place. ---- THAT ---- IS TIGHT. It took me forever to get the tranny back in position right, but i think that was mostly due to deciding to also pull all but one of my engine mounts to fill them with polyurethane at the same time :1

you did read the part where he said it was for an 88-91 civic/crx right? those are cable clutch.


we just did the poly motor mount trick to a buddies car.. worked pretty well for the price.

I am not talking about the fork for the throw-out bearing, I am talking about inside the trans case itself..

but it could very well be the fork for the throw-out bearing......

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL guys.,. its a Ef and its CABLE TRANNY and the cable and the arm are ingaging... the tranny is sittin like 2 inches off the block and i can see the fork and the bearing moving in and out great,,,, Hmmmmmmmm and what was said ALONG time ago about the disc splines.... wouldnt there be splines at the bottom of the case broken off or something.. theres NO pieces in there at all.. Hmmmmmmmmm

Take the tranny off, take it apart and and look around. Everyone can guess all day long, but thats how you'll know for sure.

The gay thing is i finally got it out and took my plate n clutch off.. everything looks good.. splines are still great... all the fingers on the plate looks strongs and still had good " resistance" Hmmmm i KNOW for sure i need new axles.. it seemd like axles from the START but i pounded them in and the still had a lil wiggle/play in the but the turned the wheels on jack but once i gave it gas they never gained speed in gear? Hmmm and the tranny its self was VERY VERY smooth and quite? im SURLEY not the tranny smart kinda guy so im kinda pissed that i might have to split the case but wtf should i look for? that main shift fork stuck maybe? damn ! :S

if somethings fucked up you'll most likely spot it pretty quickly. i would check where the linkage goes into the tranny, and the forks.

But inside the tranny what would let it " slip"??????? because the first few days it broke.. i got in it and just tried it again and when i let out on the clutch it CREPT forward like it WANTED to.... but its like it was slipping so bad? and trying it over and over it wouldnt " creep" anymore...just motionless? SOMETHING feels like its slippings and thats why i said i thought it was the axles for a long time...because the clutch n plate are still good looking..? i dunno what it would be inside the tranny that could SLIP?

From what you've posted so far, I'd say take it to a tranny shop and let them fix it or buy a new trans and clutch. I just changed a clutch in my EF not too long ago because mine shattered the inside of the clutch plate. Only difference was mine was stuck permanently in neutral and wouldn't go into gear. Yours on the hand sounds like maybe a shifter fork problem or the diff pin.

Soooooooooooo.. i FINALLLLLLY opend her up and the Sec. the case popped up a chunk falls out... HAHA :y well im not 100% what it is but on the bottom diagram its #8 one of the bottom lil arm things is missing an end....and when the tranny was up i could push the linkage in and out of gears and turn it.. and now its jammed? Hmmmmmmm but my dads saying we will go to our honda dealer and find the piece if we can and fix it our selves Hmmmmmmmm...... i dunno about tha but im ------- SICK and TIRED of ICE and SNOW outside to work on it... >:( but for now all i know is that the #8 is the area i have the lil broken arm! ??? ??? ???

I've parted out 5-6 cable B's, should have plenty of parts, look over EVERYTHING to be sure what you need, likely $25 to cover everything including shipping.
