Default will a 86-87 PG7 work on a 88-91 Civic/CRX???

i have been told no, because of the vacuum advance dizzy and ----. is that true? i ask cuz there are 6-7 PG7's on ebay right now and i think all but one (that would be mine) say that they will work on a 84-91 Civic/CRX or are in correctly labled as 88-89 PG7's and are 86-87's.
so whats the deal?

here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33596 this is what spawned this question.

the pic is of a 86-87 PG7, and he says he used in it his 91 HF/Si. now that could just be a pic he found i guess...

here is another: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33596

86-87 PG7 is for a vacuum dizzy car. The ECU plugs are the same, but some pins are shuffled around and most aren't even used by the ECU. It won't run the 88+ Civic/Integra.

Check the date stamp on the side of the ECU. Keep in mind that the 88 yeard model starts in 10/87, and they might have been producing the parts a couple months before that was stamped, but....

the 86-87 teg ECUs have a big 'X' imprinted on the ECU casing. thats the easiest way too tell...

anyway i found someone that has a 'stock' car to test the ECU. its a 91 Civic DX H/B with a DOHC ZC. ECU plugs in fine, but the car WONT start just cranks a little, no codes. so i guess we have our awnser...thanks everyone...
