My Dad said that's how they did it back in the day, but you can get F'd if something goes wrong. I don't know this was before I even owned a car he told me about this.

worst cast scenario, it isn't lined up right and the tranny wont slide onto the motor. that just means you try again.

just go to a local tranny shop/clutch shop and ask for one. Usually they will have a big box full of them for all the clutches that they do, just find one for honda and make sure it fits your clutch (take the disc with you)... It will say Honda on the tool.
Offer to pay like 5$ for it, they will probably just telll you to take it. That is what I did and I didn't pay for it either. just be nice about it.

Re: What laying around the house will center a clutch?
ive installed probably a thousand clutches in everything from bmw to freightliner....i dont want to come across as a smart ***... but ive always made sure the tranny was in gear when i stabbed it so i could turn the output shaft and help with the spline alignment....and as far a simple tool for doing alignment.....this works when you cant go get a tool.... i have taken a broom handle and ground it down until it fit in the pilot bearing then wrapped electrical tape around the handle to fit the clutch splines... its crude but it works

Just use a 10mm socket with tape wraped around the step on the socket so that it fits snug in the disk. Then just put the socket in the clutch disk and install the socket and disk in the pilot hole. Now just put the pressure plate on.
