what the hell....
ok well i dropped my car off at a shop to have them fix the cylinder position sensor CEL that my car is throwing. So i tell him that i have the turbo on there, explain to him the steps that i took with the MPFI swap and turboedit that i am using for managment.
Well since the car is throwing this CEL, it is making the car go into limp mode, (i gave the car a 3k rev limit and its running rich as hell) i tell him that and explain to him what limp mode is and that there is something wrong with the dizzy and possibly the wiring...THATS ALL i wanted him to work on.
so he calls me and tells me my injectors need to be rewired and that he has to wire a MAF sensor into it. I tell him that civics use map sensors and he insists that the intake manifold i have on there requires a MAF sensor. (its from a 93 civic w/ MPFI) he says the injectors arnt getting enough volts of power?? and that he has to wire them into there own power source.
I dont understand why he has to do this when all i need him to do is fix that damn check engine light and the car will be fixed and will run ok.
any of you guys have any ideas for what might be throwing this CEL. Its the #4 CPS. sorry for the long post...im just anoyed cause the guy has had my car for 2 weeks and is only telling me stuff i already know.
any help is great

man, thats why i dont like taking my car to shops. once they see a turbo or that it has been modified they always blame it on that! if he cant help just say ---- and go pick your car up and take it to someone else who know whats up.

SHAME ON YOU! you didnt even ask us what's wrong b4 u took it in..
simple things to do...
1. Check and make sure the wiring is ok. Make sure that it is all attached and is going to the correct ecu pins.
2. replace the dist, cuz thats where the sensor is.

Re:what the hell....
ya change the distributor or the two wires that u have to modify for the mpfi swap(the crank angle sensor wires) might be reversed.if i remember correct their both blue but one has a yellow stripe and the other is green. thats easy to mix up. *** that mechanic doesnt know ---- u should just go pick up ypur car before he starts charging u for that bullshit.

Hmm....
If you take your car to the shop and have to explain what limp mode is, CYP, that you have a turbo, etc.....maybe they're not the shop for you. The minute "MAF" came out of his mouth, I woulda slapped him with a torque wrench. That ----'s not cool.
If you were nearby, I could scope it and tell you what's wrong. Usually the bearing gets enough play in it that the air gap between the 1-tooth CYP roto and the pickup changes and causes a funky looking waveform.

Re:what the hell....
---- that shop. Obviously he does NOT know what he is doing so go get your car from him before he makes it worse.
So from what he says, it uses a MAP and a MAF?

tekphopia...im in indiana, near indy. if you near thatd be cool if you could look at it. i went to the shop and picked it up. he said i owed him 120 bux for labor and diagnostics. i said you really didnt figure anything out. but i payed him anyway since he took time to look at it. im a nice guy, i cant help it. but i did find a place near me that is knowledgable about hondas and what not. they just picked up a skyline (AHHHH god) and have an 800 hp supra with a ---- load of other cars there too. i talked to the head tech guy and he is gonna hook me up and tune it too so i will be all set.
i wish i had the time to acutally sit and work on the car but school kills me. and i just wnat it done so i hope these guys know what there doing. ill let you know how it goes
thanks
