Default what head will work on 87 crx si?

I have a 87 crx si 12 valve head and im just wondering if the 16 valve head off a 91 crx dx would work? I am new to this so any help would be great. The reason for this question is that my crx is a local circle track hornet car and i need more power. The car gets inspected every race to make sure its stock so engine swap is out of the question. Will a 16 valve head do anything for power gain? thanks for the help.

it'll bump compression up and yes you'll see a power gain. however, there is some controversy on a 16 valve head clearing the 12 valve pistons since they dont have 4 valve releifs on them

i belive the 85 crx si had a slightly bigger cam profile i think. to run a newer head you would have to rewire because the 1g crx's were vacume advance disturbutor, so it cant fire the newer dizzys unless you rig the old dizzy to work on the new head wich would be a pita and your limited on ignition tuning. also you would have to machine a few of the holes in the head bigger, becuase there slightly off.

you can bore the motor out .040 over and slap in some d16 pistons in there. Suprizingly the si ew and d15 motors were pritty tough. i know some folks who sprayed 100 shots multipul times and some that run 13 psi on a blow through carb and dont have anythign bad to say about them.
