well the non-USDM S1 tranny's came in the integra XS-I's and were fashioned after the ITR with similiar ratio's as well as hardened gears and diff. and I can attest to that with the *** beating I gave my last one and it held up awesome

I've seen the kits to convert it, but my mind can't help but think if you got a clutch cable out of a 90-93 integra that you could mount it on your car. As far as the mounts, who fucken knows?

right i dopnt understand why so many of you have a prob with this. i thought it was real comon to use the cheaper cables inplace of the hydros. esp the one we are talkin about w type r gearing. the only thing you need to do is look at the mount kits look at hydro and cable trannys and fab a bracket that does the same thing. its easier going the other way around but if you knwo the movment and how its suposed to work it should be eassy. my boy made one and he is def not the sharpest tool in the shed and he does lots of drugs so its not that hard to figure out.

I made my own conversion kit when I did my LS swap on my EG, consists of a stock EG clutch pedal bracket (inverted and modified), EF civic Clutch cable, custom aluminum bracket I made and the stock integra clutch pedal (modified), and it works great. PM me for details and the best part is, it was next to free.

here in Belarus it's to hard to find any hydro tranny for b series. or they cost 800-900 for common tranny without lsd. i was lucky i've found tranny from integra XSi 92-93 with lsd (seller didnt know what he is selling =)) for 400. but it was cable tranny (thanks god it has same clutch that has hydro b16 tranny, cos i already bought kit from ebay for that tranny =)). firstly i wanted to mage cable tranny with peddals. bought them. but after i looked at hasport site i found, that convert hydro to a tranny is very simply. just look:

here cable tranny:

and here - hydro:

how both diengage clutch:

and

so i've decided to do simply thing :

and how it turned out:

work flawless. drived it already 2.5k kms. if you decide to go that route be sure not to do rod too short. it's all trial and error =)

here is what you can do, there is some custom work involved but nothing that cant be done at home. you will need a 90-93 integra clutch pedal, 88-91 civic cable and a piece of aluminum about 1/4" thick.

first, unbolt your hydro pedal assembly, you will see the steel mounting bracket has a hole for the hydro piston, this hole will end up at the top, cut out the top of the bracket that bolted under the dash to the body, this will now be the bottom, flip the bracket over so the hole is on the top and install the pedal, depending on what type of pedal you get you might have to bend it to get it to function properly, so basically here is your setup (bracket with hole on the top and the clutch pedal going down through what used to be the top mounting point on the bracket.

now take the aluminum plate and trace out a bracket using your old cylinder that used to mount in the engine bay, this will be mounted there instead, the 2 bolts will be running at a 45* angle diagnally. now trace out a hole the same size as the bracket inside that hole trace out another hole on the top of that hole, kinda confusing, look in the pic I sent you, ok now youve got yourself a bracket, this bolts to the inside of the engine bay with the bolts from the pedal bracket tunning through the firewall, to keep the firewall from flexing the top portion of the bracket needs to be secured to the top of the body where the piece we cut out was, I didnt have time to fab anyting up so I just used a small rubber tie strap, mind you my setup isnt complete either but it does work, I know my directions suck but the pics should be self explanatory.

in the summer I plan to make a custom inner bracket/pedal, this current design has some side to side play and the pedal will sit too close to the foot rest so depending on how big your feet are you may not be able to use the foot rest, you can slide your foot under the pedal I guess but thats not good if you have to quickly press the clutch, this could of easily been solved if I took the time to bend my pedal a bit more to the right. oh well.

I like the top idea, seems a bit more simple and it works, both these methods kick *** and I hope to never hear any ------- comments from anyone at HT again saying "you should just get a hydro tranny" blah blah blah.

I'll point out some pros and cons of cable vs. hydro.

Hydro pros:

Softer, easier on the clutch, and feels very slushy depending on what fluid is used = good for the foot and city driving.

cons:

fluid leaks, heat is its #1 enemy, less reliable under stress, bigger mechanism, takes up more room under the hood, expensive to replace/fix

Cable pros:

will handle more everyday stress, takes up less room, no worrying about harsh temps and leaking (good for the track), cheap to replace/fix

cons:

not quite as soft as hydro (although some prefer this), cable may corrode if not taken care of and oiled, cable may snap if too much force is applied (not very common)

I myself prefer cable based on the above observations and also judging by the problems I had in the past with both cable or hydro.
