i have gotten pieces of bearing in my cylinder head before so i guess its possible that some worked their way to the piston with the oil and then scratched your cylinder walls up pretty bad.

i think its just the pump, no pictures of it but it is scored up pretty badly inside and the tolerances are so small that a feeler gauge twice the max fits

i do not have a knock the car was running for mere seconds before i shut it down

im still a little confused at what your problem is. a little bit of history might help, like did you just do a rebuild, or did you just buy this engine. did you wake up one morning and the oil light wouldnt go out? im kinda lost

if your oil pump goes out or isnt working efficently id look into getting a new motor, chances are its messed with something else.

everythings good, the pump was worn out, the tolerances are very tight
motor is nice and quiet so im not worried

Don't mean to thread Jack.
so by your accounts the factory piston squirters that honda uses to shoot oil into the bottems of pistons/cylinders will make it burn oil?

First of all those are pointed at the bottom of the pistons not the cylinder walls. Second, those don't flow enough volume to overload the oil rings on the pistons. The amount of oil being thrown into the cylinders at high rpm is far greater.

i read that and it makes sence, but i still dont see a lot of oil getting burned. but its like my bike. at high rpms it uses a little bit of oil. it only has 10k miles so im sure nothing is worn and there are no leaks at all. what you are saying is true, but i dont think its enough to be noticeable
