CX is the cheapest hatchback you could get from 92 to 2000. It only had like 70 hp 92-95 then like 105 96-2000, and some of them also had the manifold that looked like the HF manifold. There's also a model called the VX from 92-95 also a hatchback. All of this USDM cars. These stock engines were made for like fuel economy and stuff. I go sometimes to autotrader.com to research stuff like model info and specs on pretty much any car made. Not everything is 100% accurate, i've found somethings that were wrong, but it is pretty good for general info.
If you hava a US EX your engine code should be D16Y8 and it is a SOHC Vtec Engine putting out 127hp. With a basic turbo system not changing any internal components you can get anything from 170-200hp, but if you get into higher numbers your rods will probably break unless you have an extremely good fuel system, engine management. But for around $1000 you can easily get to 170hp+. All cars are different of course so it is all relative. Now if you build the engine and go turbo then your limit is only $$$$ you can have a fast SOHC car but you need to spend some money. It's all in the tuning, I also suggest swapping back to OBD1. I have a 97 EX also and even with a bunch of bolt ons my car is still slow, somewhat better after I went OBD-1 but still I think the best fast way of being faster is Turbo.

HX comes with a CVT tranny. Continously Variable Transmission. It has no gears, but belts (chains) instead. There are no set gear ratios.....it changes with the load on the engine. change tranny fluid every 15K or they will die quickly. the HX makes a whining noise when accelerating...and sounds like a turbo in reverse. they came with a D16Y5 (Vtec-E)I believe and average MPG is 35-40. thats it.
