ok, can someone tell me what this broken thing is.........do i need it, and what does it do.......i tried using my best friend J.B. Weld......but it didnt work........

I think that's called a dashpot. my motor didn't come with one and it ran, now it's in pieces, but it ran without that thing.

I replaced mine with my foot. It works much better now.

basically, its supposed to keep the throttle open between shifting, it keeps the throttle plate from slamming shut.

i dont get how that is it......im not saying your wrong, im just wondering why it would have a line going to the intake pipe....and when the throttle cable plate pushes on it, it puffs out air?

on transition from no vac to full vac, the valve will hold open for a small amount of time, keeping the throttle slightly open.

they are not only on b16s, ive seen em on d6a6, b18a's b16s, b17s. most older "higher perfoamnce" had em
