ok, can someone tell me what this broken thing is.........do i need it, and what does it do.......i tried using my best friend J.B. Weld......but it didnt work........

I think that's called a dashpot. my motor didn't come with one and it ran, now it's in pieces, but it ran without that thing.

yup, your supposed to adjust it per the manual, but i have never touched one in my life

i beleive it only came on the jdm b16a......as is mine

I replaced mine with my foot. It works much better now.

basically, its supposed to keep the throttle open between shifting, it keeps the throttle plate from slamming shut.


you dont need it.

i dont get how that is it......im not saying your wrong, im just wondering why it would have a line going to the intake pipe....and when the throttle cable plate pushes on it, it puffs out air?

on transition from no vac to full vac, the valve will hold open for a small amount of time, keeping the throttle slightly open.

they are not only on b16s, ive seen em on d6a6, b18a's b16s, b17s. most older "higher perfoamnce" had em

i had that piece of ---- on my D16 and i took it off...you dont need it throw it away and say hello to weight reduction! 8)

Yup not needed. They also come on b18's. I always take them off on swaps I do they just get in the way and always break

i have that ---- on my integ... came with my ls motor stock... i don't even think its hooked up... its like it doesnt wanna be cuz its like breaking off... one time i was driving and it broke off and got stuck on the throttle cable and it was all revving high as ----... got pissed and ripped it out... guess i didnt need that thing

i got one on my sohc ZC it keeps it running when i start it up :) it pulls the throttle plate open a lil when it wants to die, i dont think i'd enjoy holding my foot on the gas while it warms up.
