not necassarily, more than the tumbler can go bad. mine was getting so hot the insulation on the wires would melt off. car would stall suddenly, not crank sometimes, etc. i had a teg that had a bad tumbler, turn the key, it would crank, but wouldnt stay cranked unless you held the key in the run position.
