Default water temp gauge not working

so i just put my rebuilt A6 from my crx si 89 to my hatch dx 90. i have no a/c or regular fan, and i have an ebay del sol dual cor half size radiator. i don't sit in any traffic when i drive so it stays pretty cool. anyways, my water temp gauge will go up to normal, then just be cold after some driving. what would be causing this?

no CEL except my o2 isn't hooked up, i extended the wire and some was hanging and got burned. i'll be putting in a wbo2.com wideband next weekend, so i'll be good then.

make sure your ECT sensor is plugged and the sensor itself is ok. The ECU cant read wb signals correctly. I hope you are getting a display for it or something...

let me see if i understand this right. so when you're idling or warming up its normal, but when you drive on the highway the temp goes really cool?

sounds like a thermostat problem (stuck open).

that could be it, i didn't replace it on the rebuild. it didn't look horrible, but not great either. the wiring is hooked up fine

but yeah it'll warm up and get right to the middle, then it just drops to freezin cold. i just wouldn't expect that since i'm runnin a dual core w/ an a/c cooler in front and no fans on either of em.
