Water Pump Or Head Lift?

So on my d16y8, i was getting head lift awhile back and i swapped headgaskets and put in arp headstuds. been running flawlessly for 5 months. Now weather has gotten a hellovalot hotter and its overheating after hard acceleration. No smoke, compression is still 180 alll across, checked the torque on the headbolts, still 62ftlbs. pulled the thermostat to see if that would help but it doesnt. i thought arps were bullet proof so i dont know if its the pump or headlift, and it stays in the perfect spot under normal driving. any advice?

is the coolant system holding pressure?
does the fan work?

I would get it surfaced. Check your radiator as well.

I have not once heard of a head lifting with ARPs installed.

does it burn coolant or pump it into the overflow or anything?

Re: Water Pump Or Head Lift?

im loosing coolant, but im not sure where, its not much, maybe half a glass or less after driving around for an hour or two. theres no visible leaks and its exhaust looks normal. the overflow has been full for awhile and it doesnt look like its pulling anything in or spitting anything out, cause im running almost straigt water and the overflow is full from antifreeze that i was running a while ago.

I have not once heard of a D16 head lifting... despite what people say. I've seen what people call head lifting with ARPs a cou-ple of times. I'm pretty sure used head bolts are just as good as ARP for the <300 whp D16 guys.

With a name like "d16y8crx" I'm 100% confident it's another ignition timing problem. Did nobody get my memo?

My head was lifting and I'm estimating ~180-200 whp. Popped in some ARPs and the problem was solved.
