What ***** up electronics is having electricity running through them when exposed to the water, which acts as a short.

Oh so true. I bought a pg7 ecu years ago that was a rust machine. Board was covered at every joint with rust. I did a quick cleaning with a coarse toothbrush to clean it up a little. repped that ecu for years. Oh the days of when a pg7 ecu on a dohc zc was ------ badass.

I also got a pw0 ecu from jap land that was kinda in the same boat. Got it for nothing since the guy sure has hell wasnt sellin it for top dollar. About 45 minutes with an old toothbrush got alot of the rust off and all the dirt etc. vtec bam worked perfect. So rule to thumb kids if something is soaking wet and is like powered by wires and such dont use it till its dried out
You to can have a rusted motherboard power your honda. Approved by JD and Chris

----, i work for sprint, and i see water damaged phones like that all the time. its a 20% chance that it will work again. i take a solvent called "print kote solvent", and it will eat away at any corrosion on the board. take a dry toothbrush with the solvent and rub it on anything that looks bad. dont breathe it in or it can cause cancer. i can usually get them working, but there is a big chance that they are dead...especially if there is any electricity runnig through them (it speeds up the killing process)

So i tried the old ecu today with no success. It looks like a large cap? is beat in front of the middle connector where the harness would plug in. Its exact location is D5, its a motorolla part so maybe i can get a new one and solder it in? Although it looks like the board is burnt where it solders in on one side. Should i try pulling one out of an old ecu and soldering it in to this one?
