no, on 88-91's you do have to drop the tank.. The access panel on 4g civics isnt for the fuel pump, its for the fuel tank sending unit (for the gauge) I'm certain that all crx's and civic hatchbacks are like this. 4doors might be different but I highly doubt it.

hes talking about cutting a hole in the floor where the fuel pump is so you dont have to drop it. i personally would never do it this way.

Please use a saw and after pics of the fire. Listen to the Man drop the tank if this is how you build or work on vehicles its kinda scary but hey if you want to make an easy job a death wish for you and your car go for it
